Awesome Autumn Activities …
I love Autumn … there’s just something about this time of year that feels so right!
The kids are heading back to school. The vegetables in the garden are ready to be picked and processed. And there usually is no need, for either cooling or heating the house. It really is a terrific time for getting into a frugal frame of mind, and trying some awesome Autumn activities!
With the kids:
- Pull out the bucket of sidewalk chalk and turn the driveway into a magnificent piece of artwork with them. If you really want to get into it, try making your own sidewalk chalk with them. It’s quite fun!
- Find some brown paper lunch bags … at least one for each of the kids … and head out for a leaf/bug collecting walk. It’s amazing the different insects & beautiful leaves you can find this time of year! The insect specimens can be mounted on the Styrofoam trays meat is usually sold on. The leaves look wonderful on different colors of construction paper. These finished projects are terrific for the kids to take to sharing time at school!
Adults:
- If you have access to an outdoor clothes line pole … hang out a load of laundry … especially your sheets and pillow covers. The fresh smell of line dried linens, will melt your stress away when sleeping on them. Plus you’ll save some electricity!
- Pull out your bicycle and go for a ride. If you haven’t ridden for awhile, it’s the perfect time of year to start. The weather is typically not to hot and usually not to cold!
- Check out a Friday night high school football game. It’s a great way to connect with your community & the ticket price is usually not too bad!
You probably noticed … the underlying theme of all these activities is getting outside and enjoying the season. It truly is a spectacular time of year!
Have a terrific day!
